The filter press is a machine developed to dehydrate sludge through a process of separation between solid and liquid. The filter press, through its defined filtering activity, acts a volumetric reduction of liquid substances that have suspended solids inside.
The liquid passes through the filter medium at high pressure and exits through the drainage channels. The solid part remaining on the filter medium and forming a dehydrated mud cake. After the filtration cycle, the press is opened to remove the dehydrated sludge.
